implant

What is implant?

Implants are one of the methods used to eliminate missing teeth for any reason.
It is a method that can be applied in single tooth loss or multiple teeth loss.
The main body part of the implant acts as a tooth root in the jaw part.
The pieces added on it, called abutments, provide the smaller tooth form on which the implant crown or prosthesis places on.
Implants can be applied without damaging the anterior and posterior adjacent teeth in the elimination of a single or few missing teeth.
It does not only ensure the restoration of the existing gaps because of tooth loss, but also relieves the patients from the necessity of using removable dentures in case of multiple or complete edentulism, and provides the comfort of fixed prosthesis.

How are implants made?

Before the implant application, a detailed intraoral examination, two-dimensional x ray imagines and when it is required three-dimensional radiological images are taken.
After the patient's systemic health status, bone quality and intraoral examination and radiological examination, implant application is performed under local anesthesia in clinical conditions by the specialist dentist.
The osteointegration period, which means the fusion of bone and implant, is approximately 2.5 -3 months.
After this period is completed, the processes for the prothesis and crowns can be started.
